Today my husband had this conversation:
Him: Well, I play soccer on Wednesdays and usually 3 hours of volleyball on Thursday, so I'm usually pretty sore and tired by the end of the week.
Friend (well, I should say, older acquaintance/coworker) : Whoa, your wife let's you do all that?
Him: Let's me? She plays with me every week at volleyball and always comes to watch my soccer games.
Friend: Wow, you guys need to have kids or something so you...
Him: ...Stop having fun?
Friend: Yeah, well, enjoy it while it lasts, pretty soon you are going to have kids, and then one of you will have to stay home, and the other will feel bad about being out, and then you'll just both stay home.

Why, yes, that does sound appealing. Why don't we start having those kids right now?

Was he seriously trying to criticize our life because we have time to enjoy ourselves and he doesn't? Or rather, he does, but his wife will make him feel guilty?

We have been married for less than a year. I think we'll have kids when we are ready, or apparently when we want to be boring and stay at home all the time. Thanks for the life advice though!
